It’s true that maintaining a healthy weight becomes more difficult as we age.  But despite that, most people eat less food with age.  To boot, things (life’s processes) typically seem to slow down a bit from the “erratic” lifestyle of our youthful days.It is for many reasons like this, and more, that both Greater Boston Personal Training and research indicates that the main reason people are gaining weight with age is NOT SOLELY because of age alone.Rather, it’s because most people tend to lose muscle mass with age!  The GOOD NEWS is that many of the studies circulating amongst the clinical fat loss setting is showing that even people over the age of 60 can REVERSE MUSCLE LOSS and rebuild their “moody” metabolisms.

The news and research is so flattering that many of these studies are also showing that BY MAINTAINING YOUR MUSCLE MASS you can reduce the “normal” drop of 5-7% muscle mass per year to a marginal 0.36% per year when the principles of your lifestyle (weight training, nutritional protocols, and nutritional supplementation) align with what makes the body optimally function.

Looking To Burn Massive Belly Fat Fast?

In an effort to burn belly fat fast, you must understand, certain foods “cost” more energy to breakdown and metabolize than others.  To get specific and right to the point; protein is the most “costly” of all macro-nutrients when compared to that of carbohydrates and fats.

If you were to eat 100 calories – let’s say a tablespoon of butter – your body would “gain access” to 97% of those calories because it is efficient in breaking down fats and using them for fuel.

But with carbohydrates, your body is less efficient.  For every 100 calories consumed, your body will only gain access to 88 – 90% of them.  The other calories are “burned away” in the process of breaking down the food.

Since breaking down the carbohydrates “costs” energy, we can say there is a small boost in your metabolism from eating them.  However, in an effort to burn belly fat the fastest way possible, your body is most efficient at breaking down protein.  Allowing me to provide anecdotal evidence to support my carnivorous friends likings would be great.

If you at a chicken breast that yields 200 calories (a 25 gram breast), your body would only be “gaining access” to 80% of the 200 calories at digestion.  Therefore, in essence, you’d be only exposing your body to 160 of the 200 calories if you understood this formula of eating expensively to burn belly fat up-front.  So where did the other 40 calories go you may be asking?  They are “wasted” or burned away for the work required in breaking down the food.
